Land Rover Discovery Sport shows pulling power

Here’s something you don’t see every day – a Land Rover Discovery Sport pulling a train!

But that is exactly what has occurred in Switzerland. To show the strength of the Land Rover Discovery Sport and its diesel engine, Land Rover decided to put their vehicle to the ultimate test at the front of a 100 tonnes train.

As the video shows, the Land Rover didn’t just move the train a few feet…it pulled it for 10 kilometers through the Rhine region of northern Switzerland…

Pull 60 times its own weight, Karl Richards, Lead Engineer for Stability Control Systems at Jaguar Land Rover, said the Discovery Sport did remarkably well.

“Towing is in Land Rover’s DNA, and despite Discovery Sport being the smallest model in the range, it has proved its exceptional towing capabilities.

“Over the years, we have introduced game-changing towing technologies to take the stress out of towing for our customers. I’ve spent most of my career travelling to the most punishing parts of the world to test Land Rovers in gruelling conditions, yet this is the most extreme towing test I’ve ever done.”
