Mary Barra reportedly tells workers deal would be good news…
We are awaiting news of a deal being done with General Motors and the PSA Group currently locked in negotiations over the Opel, and possibly Vauxhall car brands.
In a sign that the possible takeover/acquisition of the German and English car brands by the French auto giants, owners of Peugeot/Citroen, the General Motors CEO, Mary Barra, has reportedly put her weight behind the move.
Reuters says Barra told employees in a memo that combining the Opel/Vauxhall business with PSA Group would be beneficial.
“While there can be no assurance of any agreement, any possible transaction would enable PSA Groupe and Opel/Vauxhall to leverage their complementary strengths, enhancing their competitive positions for the future in a rapidly changing European market.”
While she also urged the workers not to let speculation about Opel’s fate distract the car manufacturer from carrying out its business.
We will keep you updated and bring you more news on the possible merger/acquisition, as it comes to hand.
