No more Peugeot LCVs for Australia
It is unlikely that we will see any further Peugeot commercial vehicles (LCVs) in Australia in the foreseeable future.
That comes after the new Australian importer/distribution for Peugeot and Citroen, Inchcape, today confirmed that any future Peugeot LCVs were off the table.
In recent years Peugeot has marketed vans such as the Peugeot Partner and Expert in Australia, with mixed results.
Instead, into the future, there will be a refocus on making Citroen the brand that carries commercial vehicles, at this stage just Berlingo.
While other possible LCV options for the Australian market would also come bearing the Citroen badge.
Inchcape CEO, Nick Senior, says it makes sense to have just the one brand offering commercial vehicles.
“We are planning a big push of our commercial vehicles in coming years, all will be under the Citroen nameplate.
“Fleet, government and business buyers will be targeted and I’m pleased to say we have just signed a healthy deal along those lines.”
The move makes sense, especially as Inchcape has announced plans to move away from having separate Peugeot and Citroen dealerships.
While Mr Senior also confirmed that an updated version of the Citroen Berlingo was also coming soon to Australia.
The announcement of the future strategy comes as part of Inchcape plans to get Peugeot and Citroen back on the front foot in Australia following a disappointing sales run in recent times, read more details on those plans here.
