The fault could see the left rear positioning light stop functioning.

Australian owners of Volvo V40 and V40 Cross Country vehicles are being asked to return their vehicles to Volvo dealerships to fix an electrical fault.

The fault could see the left rear positioning light stop functioning and, if this occurs, drivers will notice the “bulb failure light” on the dashboard. The fault will also show up as a message in the Drivers Information Module (DIM).

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is overseeing the recall, they say that if the bulb was to fail this may pose a traffic hazard to the driver and/or other road users due to reduced visibility.

Inspection and rectification of the problem will be carried out free of charge at Volvo dealerships.
