Volvo V40 named Safest Used Family Car

Volvo V40 with optional safety pack gets safety endorsement

If you’re in the market for a safe used family car, Thatcham Research reckon the 2014 Volvo V40 is the best way to go.

That endorsement for the Volvo comes with an asterisk, the V40 with the optional Safety Pack is the pick.

Thatcham Research has been studying the safest used cars on the UK market, all ten cars are available in Australia.

Though, as is always the case, you should check to see if the Australian model has the same safety features and credentials as its UK/European counterpart via the ANCAP website.

The UK’s Top 10 Safest Used Family Cars

The Insurance research firm decided to conduct the study after they found car buyers are increasingly left confused and disengaged in regards to safety credentials.

Matthew Avery, Head of Research at Thatcham Research, tells us the confusion is thought to stem from a rise in safety jargon.

“The more safety technology is fitted as standard on new cars in the first place, the better used cars buyers will be able to access it,”

“In the meantime, simplifying and making information about safety features more widely available has to be the key.”
