Performance division gets EV refocus
There’s been a fairly big change announced at Volvo with the brand’s performance division, Polestar, set to be transformed into a sub-brand for Volvo electric cars.
The change will see the Volvo badge removed from Polestar cars.
In a statement released early this morning in Sweden, Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson, said the change will see Polestar ready some very exciting performance-orientated EVs.
“With Polestar, we are able to offer electrified cars to the world’s most demanding, progressive drivers in all market segments,”
“Polestar will be a credible competitor in the emerging global market for high-performance electrified cars.”
The statement also adding that Polestar will enjoy specific technological and engineering synergies with Volvo Cars and benefit from significant economies of scale as a result of its connection to Volvo.
These synergies will allow it to design, develop and build world beating electrified high-performance cars.
More announcements are expected ahead of the unveiling of the first Polestar EV models in coming months.
