Volkswagen slashes production pollution

The production of Volkswagen vehicles is now cleaner than ever with the car company reporting a 25% cut in production related pollution.

Volkswagen had planned to meet the 25% reduction in emissions, waste and water consumption in eight years, however they tell us their “Think Blue.Factory.” initiative has achieved its goal in just five.

Volkswagen “Think Blue. Factory.” has achieved:

  • 24.7% Energy consumption reduction
  • 29.1% less CO2 emissions
  • 46.5% Waste production reduction
  • 18,2% cut in water consumption
  • 8.2% reduction in solvent emissions

Peter Bosch, Head of Optimization Strategy, Processes, Structures at Volkswagen says environmental protection is integrated into the company.

“Investments in environmental technologies protect precious resources and avoid emissions, benefiting everyone.

“They also make economic sense.”

While he says the company is also now looking at new environmental targets.

“Over the next few years, we will make further substantial progress.” He said.
