Volkswagen looks set to fill a glaring hole in the brands global line-up with the German auto giants showing a new full-size SUV concept at the Beijing Auto Show.
Known as the T-Prime Concept GTE, Volkswagen tell us the concept previews the future Volkswagen all-wheel drive full-size SUV, fitted with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Volkswagen say the SUV will be one of the most advanced cars in the world.
Featuring an electric motor and a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, Volkswagen is promising an output of up to 280kW and fuel consumption around 3.0L/100km.
While the cabin is being touted as a ‘digital environment’ highlighted by a massive 15” infotainment screen and a 12” info screen for the driver, incorporating speedometer.
Rear-seat occupants don’t miss out either, the T-Prime Concept GTE features a 9.6” display surface located between the two individual seats.
Klaus Bischoff is the head of vehicle design at Volkswagen, he says the brand is primed to offer a very special new SUV model.
“Our team has created a charismatic and sporty all-round vehicle with this SUV, which appeals with its impressive sense of presence and confident poise.”
