Volkswagen Golf claims top US car award

Motor Trend name VW Golf ‘Car of the Year’.

The Volkswagen Golf has claimed a number of awards in recent times and is a finalist in our Car of the Year award as well.

It’s a finalist in the Behind the Wheel 2014 Car of the Year award and now the Volkswagen Golf has been named 2015 Motor Trend Car of the Year.

The Golf beat home nine other finalists, including the new Hyundai Genesis, Honda Jazz (Fit) and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It also marks the latest in a string of recent awards for the Volkswagen, including Green Car Reports “Best Car to Buy” and Yahoo’s Car of the Year.

The winning may not stop there; the Volkswagen Golf is also considered a strong chance of taking out the North American Car of the Year award which will be handed out at the North American International Auto Show in January.

Motor Trend Editor-in-Chief Ed Loh said the Golf fulfils almost every need and want.

“From the value-laden Golf 1.8T and high-MPG Golf TDI to the legendary hot hatch GTI and the all-electric e-Golf, there truly is a VW Golf for everyone.”
