Volkswagen Arteon makes Geneva debut

The Volkswagen line-up will welcome a new addition with production of the new Volkswagen Arteon commencing in Germany now.

The new model, which will sit above the Passat at the top of the VW range, has just made its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Still not officially confirmed for Australia, European deliveries will start mid-year.

Volkswagen tell us the distinctively-shaped Gran Turismo offers five-seats in a coupe-like fastback design with generous interior space.

Under the bonnet there will be a choice of six different engines – three petrol and three diesels, while a DSG-auto will be standard across the range.

All-wheel drive features on the most-powerful TSI and TDI engines as standard and as an option on a mid-grade 140kW diesel.

All other Volkswagen Arteons will be front-wheel drive.

While Volkswagen tell us there will be three specification levels – a base model, then the Elegance and R-Line offerings.

Dr Elmar-Marius Licharz, Head of the Volkswagen Arteon Product Line, says the new offering will hit the ground running.

“The Arteon is setting new benchmarks in this segment.

“Its appeal comes not only from its elegant and unmistakable design, but also in its technology.

“The Arteon also sets very high standards and provides significantly more space than that of its competitors.”
