Updated 2018 Hyundai Sonata debuts

New York Auto Show debut for face-lifted Sonata…

Hyundai Australia dealerships will have this new face-lifted Hyundai Sonata available around the middle of the year.

Coming at a time where Hyundai Sonata sales are disappointingly low (only 62 Australian Sonata sales were recorded in March), Hyundai is hoping the refresh helps put the model back on buyer’s radars.

The updated 2018 Hyundai Sonata has made its official debut today at the New York Auto Show and the changes aren’t just cosmetic.

Hyundai tell us they have stiffened the Sonata chassis and this has helped improve ride and handling.

The suspension, particularly the rear suspension, has come in for a great deal of attention, while the steering has also been retuned.

While the 2.0 litre turbo-petrol engine benefits from the arrival of a new eight-speed auto transmission.

Interior changes run to a redesigned centre stack and instrument panel, addition of a USB port for rear seat passengers, and a new steering wheel design.

Revised front styling, new-look taillights, and the addition of a boot release button behind the Hyundai badge on the Sonata boot lid look to be the most important external changes.

We will bring you more details on the 2018 Hyundai Sonata when confirmed by Hyundai Australia and you can stay up to date in our Hyundai Sonata News section.
