VFACTS sales data for August 2017 has just been released and shows the industry enjoyed a fourth consecutive record sales result.
In total, 96,662 new vehicles were delivered to Australian customers in August 2017.
August 2017 vehicle sales in Australia were up 1.8% on the same month last year.
Toyota was again the number one brand, the HiLux has finished as the top-selling model.
Overall, vehicle sales in Australia across the first eight months of the year were up 0.6% on the same period last year.

- Toyota - 18,511 (19.2% market share)
- Mazda - 8,511 (8.8%)
- Hyundai - 7,800 (8.1%)
- Holden - 6,984 (7.2%)
- Ford - 6,645 (6.9%)
- Mitsubishi - 6,649 (6.9%)

- Toyota Hilux - 4,287
- Ford Ranger - 3,588
- Toyota Corolla - 2,948
- Hyundai Tucson - 2,206

August 2017 Vehicle Sales Data – Key Points:
- Small SUV sales up 22.8% on same month last year
- Medium SUV sales grew by 14%
- Sales of pick-up and cab-chassis 4X4s jumped 23%
- Private SUV sales rose by 7.6%
- Private light commercial sales increased 23.4%
Chief Executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), Tony Weber, tells us the sales growth continues to come from SUVs and commercials.
