Better batteries and improved engine for 2016 Toyota Prius.
We already know that the next-generation Toyota Prius will land in 2016 with new looks and a roomier cabin, now Toyota has also given us some more details on improvements being made to the Prius drivetrain.
The new 2016 Toyota Prius will land in local Toyota dealerships in the New Year featuring a more efficient 1.8 litre petrol engine as well as lighter and more compact hybrid components and battery pack.
While Toyota is yet to officially confirm how much more efficient the new Prius will be, we do know that one major change will be the shifting of the battery pack to under the rear seat. This makes for a larger boot, in fact Toyota promises a generous 502 litre capacity.
The battery pack shift, which also puts more weight lower, coincides with the introduction of a stiffer body and newly-designed suspension set-up, Toyota promising all these changes will mean more nimble performance, better handling and a nicer ride too.
While, finally, in updating us on the new 2016 Toyota Prius, Toyota Australia said we should expect a warmer and more inviting cabin that will feature changes including a new instrument panel and improved seats.
We will keep you updated with more information, including Australian availability, pricing and final specification details for the new-generation Toyota Prius in coming months.
