Toyota and Lexus cars recalled over fuel tank fault

Another recall of Toyota and Lexus vehicles has been initiated, this time there’s an issue with the fuel tank that needs attention.

The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and affects the following models:

Not all vehicles sold during those periods are affected, check your VIN here for Toyota cars and here for Lexus vehicles.

The ACCC recall notice advises that the fuel suction plate located within the fuel tank may develop a crack which could expand over time.

In this condition, fuel may eventually leak when the vehicle has a full tank of fuel.

Fuel or fuel vapour in the presence of an ignition source could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

Involved vehicle owners will be contacted by mail by Toyota/Lexus advising details of this recall campaign.
