Toyota Camry still Australia’s favourite midsize car

There are few cars that dominate their segment of the market like the Toyota Camry.

In a segment that includes a number of quality competitors, car buyers seemingly only have eyes for the Toyota product.

Meantime the team over at Subaru Australia would be smiling. The Japanese brand found 249 customers for its just released new Subaru Levorg.

And the good news for all manufacturers competing in the category is that there was a slight upturn overall in midsize cars sales in June.

VFACTS data showing 8,084 deliveries in the month, up 4.9% on the same month last year.

Unfortunately, across the first six months of the year medium-size passenger car sales declined 3.1%.

June 2016 Mid-Sized Car Sales Results:

While in the medium-sized car sales race among models priced above $60,000, Mercedes-Benz managed to hold off BMW.

The standard-edition C-Class Mercedes-Benz finishing 649 sales in the month, while the BMW 3 Series found 615 customers.

While factoring in the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and the BMW 3 Series Gran Tursimo and 4 Series Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz still beat home their compatriots 1039 cars to 743.

Audi managed to claim third place with the A4 gaining 238 sales and the Lexus IS achieved 216 sales to finish in front of the Jaguar XE (167) and Infiniti Q50 (30).
