Toyota Camry continues Mid-Size market dominance in August

Australia’s love affair with the Toyota Camry continued in August 2016…

When you have a player in the market that chews up more than 55% of the customers, well, there isn’t a lot left over for the competition.

That’s exactly what continues to happen in the Mid-Size segment of the Australian car sales race.

VFACTS data for August 2016 shows that sales in the segment increased 16.0% in the month, that figure well above the 0.6% growth in the segment this year.

But, as the figures show, despite some excellent competition, Australian’s just love the Toyota Camry.

  1. Toyota Camry (4 cyl) 2,458 (+17.3%)
  2. Volkswagen Passat 330 (+587.5%)
  3. Mazda6 262 (-30.5%)
  4. Subaru Liberty 256 (-21.0%)
  5. Subaru Levorg 229
  6. Ford Mondeo 223 (-10.8%)
  7. Nissan Altima 190 (+79.2%)
  8. Skoda Octavia 111 (-35.5%)
  9. Hyundai i40 95 (+3.3%)
  10. Hyundai Sonata 94 (-4.1%)
  11. Kia Optima 82 (-21.9%)
  12. Holden Malibu 49 (-26.9%)
  13. Honda Accord 44 (-24.1%)
  14. Citroen C5 15 (+200.0%)
  15. Holden Insignia 5 (-77.3%)
  16. Citroen DS5 3 (+50.0%)
  17. Suzuki Kizashi 2 (-75.0%)

While in the $60,000+ category it was the Mercedes-Benz C-Class that was again the dominant player.
