Toyota Australia enjoys 22% profit jump

The top-selling car brand in Australia is also proving to be one of the most profitable with Toyota reporting a healthy $236 million after tax profit.

The Australian operations of the Japanese car company enjoying a 22% increase in profits for the last financial year (ending 31st March), compared with the 2014/15 result.

Toyota telling us several factors helped the company achieve the additional profit:

  • Strong vehicle sales across all major segments
  • More than 209,000 total Toyota and Lexus sales in Australia
  • More than 64,600 vehicles exported

The profit also coming despite Toyota facing $81 million in restructuring costs relating to the impending shutdown of local manufacturing.

Toyota Australia boss Dave Buttner says the results are very pleasing.

“It has been extremely pleasing to see our employees continue their dedication and commitment to achieve our company goals.

“Their ongoing engagement has helped us to achieve these positive results,”

“Last year we also revamped almost 70% of our vehicle line-up and the fact that our vehicle line-up continues to appeal strongly to Australian motorists is extremely satisfying.”
