Australian customers who purchased a TJM Recovery Gear Snatch Strap Kit last year are being urged to check whether their kits are covered by a safety recall being overseen by the ACCC.
The recall affects TJM Recovery Gear Snatch Strap Kits with the part number - 867TJMREKIT1 or 867OXREKIT1.
The kit consists of a bag containing a snatch strap, 2 bow shackles and a pair of heavy duty gloves.
The kit is sold in an outer cardboard carton (as shown below).
All of the affected kits were sold by TJM stores between February and December 2016.
The ACCC recall notice advises that product labelling on the outer cardboard packaging is not compliant with the relevant mandatory safety standard.
Inner labels and instructions for use are compliant with the requirements of the mandatory standard.
What are the hazards?
Absence of warnings or inconsistent information in labelling could result in the strap being used in an unsafe manner or the incorrect recovery kit being purchased.
Owners are being urged to remove and discard the outer cardboard packaging of the product. Inner labels and instructions are correct.
While the ACCC says consumers who have purchased a recovery kit and believe they were not correctly informed of the breaking strength of the snatch strap, resulting in the snatch strap not suiting their needs, can return the complete kit to any TJM store for a replacement or full refund.
A proof of purchase between February and December 2016 will be required.
More info is also available on the TJM website.
