Tesla Model S scores overall and category wins.
The Tesla Model S electric car has scooped the pool at this year’s Australian Good Design Awards winning both overall and best design in the Automotive and Transport category.
The annual awards recognize excellence in design and innovation and date back to the 1950’s with seven main categories and more than 25 sub-categories. Entries must represent excellence in design including innovation, quality, functionality, sustainability and above all, world-class design.
In taking out the overall Good Design award for the year the Tesla Model S was praised for its revolutionary drive-train, exterior and interior styling, as well as the thrilling drive experience that it provides.
While the electric BMW i3 was named the winner of this year’s Good Design Awards Sustainability Award with the model picking up points for its carbon-fibre passenger cell and electric drive system.
Other cars to be recognized as finalists in the Automotive and Transport category included; Peugeot 308, Alfa Romeo 4C, Audi TT, Land Rover Discovery Sport and Mercedes-Benz C-Class and S-Class Coupe.
