It promises a starting price in the U.S. of just $36,000, while we’re sure to pay most likely about $60,000 to get into the car here, what can we expect?

Here’s a few facts about the Tesla Model 3:

It has roughly the same proportions as a Toyota Camry.

The Tesla Model 3 promises a 0-100km/h sprint in just 5.6 secs.

The base-model car promises 345km from a single charge.

There’s no engine, so you essentially get a front and rear boot.

The base-model will be rear-wheel drive, an all-wheel drive will be optional.

Like the Model S and X, the Model 3 features only sparse traditional controls, instead a huge 15″ centre display/control screen is at your fingertips (as seen below).

The Model 3 will gibe you 81km of drive range from every hour of charge you provide it via the standard Wall Connector.

A full charge via Supercharging can be achieved in around half an hour.

Not confirmed, but the Model 3 is believed to have a primarily aluminium body panels/body shell.

Tesla in Australia is happy to take your reservation for a Model 3.

The Model 3 can change the world, believes Loup Ventures co-founder Gene Munster.

He’s told The Street the car is going to bring enormous change to the auto industry.

“We believe we will eventually look back at the launch of the Model 3 and compare it to the Apple’s iPhone, it will advance us to a new paradigm in transportation, car ownership, ride hailing, city development and energy usage.”
