Subaru to build all-new seven-seat SUV

But three-row Subaru SUV remains a no-go for Australia…

There is a glaring omission from the current Subaru range in Australia – a seven-seat SUV.

And while the market is calling out for high seating capacity models, and we get the feeling that Subaru Australia would love to have one, it looks like this new seven-seat SUV concept being shown by the Japanese car brand at the New York Auto Show won’t be coming our way.

Once again, the Subaru Ascent SUV (pictured) is being developed and planned exclusively in left-hand drive for North American markets.

In showing the concept, Subaru says it has full three-row capability and functionality, and will be powered by a newly-developed Boxer direct injection turbo engine.

Set to be built in the U.S. on the Subaru Global Platform, North American families can expect to see the Subaru Ascent in dealerships next year.
