Booming Australian and global sales for Mercedes-Benz

The Australian economy must doing pretty well…Mercedes-Benz sales are going through the roof!

VFACTS sales data shows Mercedes-Benz enjoyed a whopping 24.2% lift in Australian sales in September.

In total, Mercedes-Benz handed over 3,922 vehicles in the month, including commercial vehicles, but not trucks/buses.

That total was well ahead of German rivals BMW (1,906) and Audi (1,790), and the Japanese contenders, Lexus (637).

Driving the growth for Mercedes-Benz was the A-Class (+44.4%), C-Class (+68.8%), E-Class (+29.1%), and GLC-Class (+27.6%).

The local sales triumph has been reflected on the global market with the company reporting 220,894 vehicle sales in September (+4.5%).

That total marked Mercedes-Benz 55th record month in succession.

1,717,300 cars have been delivered to customers since the beginning of the year, 11.7% more than in the same period of last year.

While the past three months were the best third quarter in the company’s history (573,026 units, +7.9%).

Driving much of the sales growth for the company has been booming SUV sales.

78,277 SUVs with the three-pointed star were handed over to customers last month (+14.8%).

Britta Seeger, Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales chief, welcomed the strong SUV performance.

“Our customers’ enthusiasm for the SUVs from Mercedes-Benz is a great confirmation of our work.

“In September, we peaked again and delivered more than 78,000 SUVs to customers.

“This means we surpassed our previous best mark by more than 7,500 units.”
