More solid sales increases for BMW in 2016

The global hunger for luxury cars is seeing new sales records for almost all manufacturers in the market enjoy the car sales boom.

More solid sales increases for BMW in 2016BMW is not being outdone in the global sales race either.

New sales data shows the BMW Group, including BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce, sold 198,354 vehicles in May 2016, up 5.3% on the same month last year. Sales for the group were up 5.0% across the first five months of the year.

Individually, BMW car sales were up also by 5.6% in May with 168,129 deliveries. The 797,457 deliveries across the first five months also represents a 5.0% increase.

May 2016 sales stars for BMW include the BMW 2 Series (+47.6%), BMW X1 (+47.8%), BMW X4 (+13.0%) and the BMW 7 Series (+32.4%).

MINI sales also grew in May with a total of 29,864 vehicles delivered worldwide, an increase of 3.6% on the same month last year. Year-to-date, MINI sales were up 5.2%.

Head of Sales at Marketing at BMW Group, Dr Ian Robertson, welcomed the continued strong results.

“Our sales continue to show sustainable growth, well in line with our expectations,”

“Our target is to ensure profitable growth in sales and thanks to our attractive model line-up, that’s what we are achieving.”
