Skoda Octavia gets top safety rating

ANCAP hands Octavia five star crash rating.

There are now four Skoda models in the Australian range with five-star ratings.

Australian car buyers have another new car offering with a top safety rating with ANCAP awarding the Skoda Octavia the maximum safety categorization.

The Octavia joins Skoda stable-mates - Roomster, Superb and Yeti with a five-star rating

ANCAP Chairman Lauchlan McIntosh says the Octavia features an impressive list of safety features, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control and Fatigue Detection, but he says buyers need to beware that not all features come as standard.

“The inclusion of active safety assist technologies which can help prevent or minimize the impact of a crash is vital if we are to further reduce the number of lives lost on our roads.

Autonomous Emergency Braking, lane support systems and adaptive lighting are examples of the technologies consumers should be urging manufacturers to offer as standard in all new makes and models.”

The Skoda Octavia is priced from $37,990.
