The Skoda Kodiaq SUV has been found to be the best car/SUV to tow a caravan.
Skoda’s new addition to their line-up has just been named the overall winner of the UK’s Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year 2018.
It was the 2.0 TDI 4×4 version with DSG transmission that especially impressed the judges, that offering has just been confirmed for an Australian arrival before Christmas.
The offering also took out a category win in the ‘Under 1800kg’ all-wheel drive division.
In total, 44 cars, SUVs and pick-ups were put to the test by the caravan club.
“Skoda has once again built a fantastic, no nonsense, utterly awesome towcar.” - Towcar judges.
Each tow-car was thoroughly tested on its towing performance over the testing circuit, the judges also assessed each model’s ‘caravanability’ i.e. how well it caters for caravan owner needs.
For example, how much typical holiday gear and caravan essentials it can accommodate, how easily it can be hitched up to a caravan and the quality of towing information available in its handbook.
Also added to the marking equation was the tow-car’s value for money.
