In total, more than two-billion EUR was invested in the trucks development over a ten year period.

Offered across a range of different variants, ranging from the P-series to the S-series, available engine outputs will range from 280 to 730hp.

No word though on any hybrid or electric powertrains at this stage.

What sets a Scania construction truck apart from its road-going siblings?

Scania say the XT range will boast things like a sturdy one-piece bumper, headlight protection, robust mirror casings and a high air intake, to help it cope with the grueling demands of construction work.

President and CEO of Scania, Henrik Henriksson, says there will be a great focus on the construction industry for the brand into the future.

“This industry is facing increasing demands for sustainable and cost-effective production.

“We are well aware of the slim margins for many haulers in this business and we have developed vehicles and solutions to ensure sustained profitability.

“Each component in the complex construction logistics process must adapt to higher standards for efficiency and Scania XT is our contribution to this shift.”
