The two brands that fall under the newly-formed Volkswagen Truck & Bus umbrella have enjoyed sales increases in 2016.

The brands, MAN and Scania, increased deliveries by 3% across the first six months of the year, according to sales data just released by Volkswagen.

In total, 89,640 trucks and buses were delivered in the period, with the second quarter of the year enjoying a 14% lift in sales compared to the same period last year.

During the first six months, MAN Truck & Bus sold 39,700 units and Scania 40,310 units.

Andreas Renschler, CEO of Volkswagen Truck & Bus, said the results were pleasing.

“Thanks to strong demand in Europe and a highly competitive range of vehicles, we have succeeded in increasing our unit sales in the first six months. We are also optimistic for the next six months.

“We are very pleased with the current development at the Volkswagen Truck & Bus Group.

“We tackle important issues together, implement quickly, and remain firmly focused on our goals: to become global champion within the next decade.”
