The Kia Sorento already has a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating in Australia, now it also boasts a Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) classification from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
That new grading comes when the Kia seven-seat SUV is equipped an optional front-crash prevention system, technology that will soon be available on the Australian version.
Following the grading, the IIHS congratulated Kia for its ongoing commitment to safety.
While Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning at Kia Motors America, welcomed the safety grading.
“These results are a clear indication that Kia places a high priority on safety by offering advanced crash avoidance technologies and enhancing vehicle structure through the use of advanced high-strength steel,”
“We are proud that the Sorento received strong ratings across the board, and having earned the prestigious TSP+ award bolsters our strong safety record and the integrity of our products.”
The Kia Sorento range in Australia is priced from $40,990.
