Mercedes-Benz brings more economical new Actros to Australia…

There’s another brand new European prime-mover available for semi-trailer, B-double work and road train work with the new-generation Mercedes-Benz Actros launched today in Cairns.

Featuring a range of four new six-cylinder engines, ranging up to the 16 litre unit, Mercedes-Benz Trucks tell us that rigid models are on the way as well and these can be expected in the second quarter of 2017.

While all-wheel drive versions of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros will follow later next year.

  • Fuel economy improved over outgoing model by up to 7%.
  • AdBlue consumption reduced by up to 40%.
  • New crawler function for low speed work.
  • Quick shifting automated transmissions cut shift times by 20%.
  • New technologies include adaptive cruise control and Active Brake Assist.
  • Driver comfort improvements including sat-nav and inner-spring mattresses
  • New model comes with 500,000km/5 year’s free scheduled servicing (if purchased in the next 12 months).

After an intensive local testing program that covered more than a million kilometres, Mercedes-Benz Truck and Bus director, Michael May, says the new Actros is ready to roll.
