New Toyota HiLux variant added - The model, the 23rd in the Australian Toyota HiLux line-up, features a five-speed auto transmission.

Toyota has responded to calls for a HiLux 4×4 SR Double Cab with a turbo-diesel engine and automatic transmission.

Built specifically for Australia with the mining sector and tradies in mind, Toyota says the cab-chassis body style is suited for industries needing customised fit-outs such as storage lockers and toolboxes and the ability to carry five people.

The automatic transmission also features as demand for the self-shifter rises within those sectors.

The new Toyota HiLux SR Double Cab is priced from $43,740 and Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the development of the new variant demonstrated the importance of Australia and its customers to the global company.

“This new 4×4 HiLux package has been uniquely developed to meet the demands of workers in the harsh and remote conditions experienced in Australia’s mining and exploration industries,”

“Equally, those attributes make it a rugged, dependable and affordable choice for businesses and individuals around the country, many of whom spend large amounts equipping their HiLux as a workhorse.”
