New-gen Nissan LEAF confirmed for Australia

Nissan hopes for more interest in new LEAF

The Nissan LEAF electric car has been a fantastic seller for Nissan on the global stage, however Australian car buyers have never really been very interested.

The world’s best-selling EV, the Nissan offering has totalled just 635 sales locally since 2011.

The model’s best year in Australia was 2013 when local dealers managed 188 LEAF sales.

Now there’s an all-new Nissan LEAF coming to Australia and Nissan is hoping for a more enthusiastic response.

The 2018 Nissan LEAF is due to be unveiled in September and we’re being promised a more mainstream look and feel than previous models.

There are also reports that the new-gen LEAF will offer a range of different power outputs/capacities (similar to what Tesla offers), including a 60kWh version that should give a drive range in excess of 300 kilometres.

Nissan Australia also confirmed today the new LEAF will feature ProPILOT technology.

The autonomous drive tech helps control acceleration, braking and steering during single-lane driving on the highway.

Nissan saying the system helps reduces the hassle of stop-and-go highway driving (teaser image below).
