New cars to avoid 2015

Consumer Reports names four new cars to avoid in 2015.

New cars to avoid 2015 - the Kia Carnival lost points for its fixed second row seats and ride and handling qualities.

This is going to set the cat among the pigeons – the Consumer Reports Four New Cars to Avoid in 2015.

In what is sure to be met with disappointment from the relevant manufacturers, three of the four new models named by the consumer advocates are available in Australia. We have driven and reviewed all three and tend to agree, in the main, with the negative sentiments.

The four vehicles that Consumer Reports has listed as disappointments are the Chrysler 200, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Lexus 200t/300h and Kia Carnival (called the Sedona in the US).

While the Chrysler isn’t available in Australia, the magazine/website said the Land Rover Discovery Sport is powered by a “flat footed” engine mated to a subpar transmission. The vehicle’s handling is “lumbering,” and the entertainment system may be best described as old school.

New cars to avoid 2015 - the Lexus NX range was criticized for its ride and interior.

The new Lexus NX 200t/300h SUV exhibited a ride that was “jostling” and suggested some of the components felt cheap, saying it was not in the same league as its German competitors in the compact luxury crossover segment.

While the Kia Carnival, which was handed just a four-star ANCAP safety rating after its release and was also recalled over a potential brake fault issue, made the cars to avoid 2015 list because of its “ harsh” ride and handling, squeaks and rattles inside the cabin and fixed position second row seats that limits interior flexibility.
