Mitsubishi Outlander reaches 15-year anniversary

More than 1.5 million sales in 15 years for Mitsubishi Outlander…

It is consistently one of Mitsubishi’s best-selling models in Australia and now the car company has paused to mark the mid-size SUVs 15-year anniversary.

Launched back in 2001 and arriving in Australia in 2003, the Mitsubishi Outlander is finding an increasing number of buyers locally, VFACTs figures show the model has increased its Australian sales this year by 18.7% and the model has more than 8% of the medium-size SUV market.

Now in its third-generation, more than 1.5 million Mitsubishi Outlander SUVs have now been sold globally.

While the model is also well known for its plug-in hybrid variant, known as the PHEV, a vehicle that holds the record for being the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle worldwide.

Despite that models popularity overseas, however, the plug-in hybrid variant is no longer available in Australia.

Local Outlander buyers get a choice of 2.0 and 2.4 litre petrol engines and a 2.2 litre turbo-diesel.
