Mitsubishi Lancer added to Takata air-bag recall

More than 59,000 Mitsubishi Lancer’s recalled over air-bag concerns.

Mitsubishi Lancer added to Takata air-bag recall - the recall affects more than 59,000 Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles sold in Australia.

It’s affected almost all other Japanese car brands and now the mammoth global Takata air-bag recall has spread to a Mitsubishi model sold in Australia.

Being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the Mitsubishi Lancer Takata air-bag recall affects 59,522 Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles sold in Australia between the 11th of June 2003 and the 30th of December 2008.

Affecting CH Lancer Sedan/Wagon and CY and CZ Lancer EVO Sedans, the ACCC recall notice says the Takata front passenger air-bag may release metallic fragments from the inflator container if the air-bag is deployed.

An inflator rupture during airbag deployment events could result in metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the vehicle occupants.

Letters are being sent to affected Mitsubishi Lancer owners by Mitsubishi Motors Australia.
