Michelin begins Online Tyre Sales

Online tyre purchasing now available to car owners in the U.S…

It might seem a little strange, especially as you still have to go to a tyre store to have your new rubber fitted, however Michelin tell us a big part of the future of tyre retailing is online.

Michelin has just began selling car tyres online in the U.S. and say their site, MichelinMan.com, is aimed at simplifying the tyre-buying process.

Scott Clark is the chief operating officer at Michelin North America, he says the website allows car owners to research, select and then purchase their tyres, as well as schedule installation.

“We have worked very closely with our retail partners to ensure we have an offer that promotes their business while also offering consumers the convenience of researching and buying online.”

“When an order is placed online, consumers will schedule an installation appointment with a local service provider based on proximity.”

The expansion in online tyre sales comes after Michelin’s BFGoodrich Tyres brand began offering online sales earlier this year (details here).

No word at this stage on whether the online option will be made available to Australian car owners.
