MG Motor among most reliable car brands

Ok, so they didn’t come out on top, however MG Motors say they were delighted to be nominated by car owners as having some of the most reliable cars available.

MG finished in the top ten of this year’s What Car? reliability survey.

The study involved 14,200 car owners, each was asked to report on faults that had occurred in the past twelve months on cars aged between 0-3 years.

Categories included battery, bodywork, brakes, engine, engine electrics, exhaust, exterior lights, fuel system, gearbox/clutch, interior trim, non-engine electrics, steering, suspension and other.

MG finished in eight-place, but the Chinese-owned British car brand finished ahead of rivals like Audi and Volkswagen and Sales and Marketing Chief, Matthew Cheyne, says that’s very encouraging.

“To be recognised for our reliability, ahead of other premium manufacturers, is indicative of our ambitions as a brand.

“Modern MG builds high-quality, stylish cars that represent excellent value for money, and we are committed to furthering and delivering this brand ethos.”

Lexus had the most reason to smile though with the Japanese brand again coming out on top, this year ahead of Mitsubishi, Toyota, Suzuki and Alfa Romeo.

Alfa’s FCA stablemate, Jeep, finished last in the reliability study, behind Land Rover and Tesla.
