As Kia has shown with its industry leading seven-year warranty, backing your product for an extended period can be the difference between people investing in your brand or not.

Since Kia introduced the seven-year warranty in late 2014 and sales have increased rapidly for the South Korean ever since.

Now its the Chinese-owned MG Motor that is experimenting with offering the better than half decade coverage in the UK.

At this stage the offer is limited to the UK and will commence with just the one model – the new MG ZS compact SUV (seen below).

In confirming the seven-year (80,000-miles) warranty today MG also guaranteed only genuine replacement MG parts would be used for repairs.

Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing at MG Motor UK, tells us the long warranty period is designed to provide confidence for prospective buyers.

“MG cares about giving customers top-quality cars and top-quality aftercare and the new warranty will provide customers with the comfort that the manufacturer will look after them and their car should anything go wrong.

“This is MG putting its money where its mouth is.”

No word yet on the warranty being offered by MG in Australia, and we are also awaiting confirmation on whether the MG ZS will also come here.
