Mercedes-Benz Unimog recall - a potential issue with the compressed air system in the Unimog has been identified.

Australian owners of a Mercedes-Benz Unimog will soon receive a letter from Mercedes-Benz Australia in relation to the recall of their vehicle.

Affecting a total of just six Unimog 400 and 500 utilitarian vehicles sold in Australia between the 1st of May 2008 and the 1st of April 2012, the recall relates to a problem with the compressed air system.

The ACCC says a vent on the compressed air system, which controls features such as the parking brake and 4×4 systems, may become blocked which will result in a pressure increase in the air dryer and may result in the top of the air dryer detaching.

If the defect occurs, the ACCC warns that this poses a potential accident hazard to other road users.

A letter with full recall information and instructions is being sent to affected Mercedes-Benz Unimog owners.
