Mercedes-Benz sales rocket ahead in 2017

13% sales jump in first half

Any way you cut it Mercedes-Benz is increasingly becoming more than just a premium car brand, its becoming a global automotive powerhouse.

As rivals Audi and BMW struggle to gain traction this year, both globally and in Australia, Mercedes-Benz just seems to go from strength to strength.

The latest sales data from the Stuttgart-based vehicle manufacturer shows sales across the first half of 2017 lifted 13.7% with more than 1.14 million customer deliveries.

In June, Mercedes-Benz lifted sales 11.1% with just under 210,000 vehicles handed over.

Sales and marketing chief at Daimler AG, Britta Seeger, tells us Mercedes-Benz sold more cars than its premium car rivals in markets including Germany, Italy, France, South Korea, Japan, the USA, Canada and Brazil in June.

“We have posted the strongest half-year in the history of Mercedes-Benz with sales of significantly more than a million cars,”

“Not only the popularity of our E-Class family contributed to this success; demand for our SUVs is also as high as ever in all regions.”

In Australia, Mercedes-Benz sales in June were up 24.8% with just under 5000 vehicles delivered to customers.

Sales across the first half of the year were ahead 7.9% with some of the best-performing models locally including the C-Class (+35.8%), E-Class (+153.3%) and GLS-Class (+66.9%).
