Mercedes-Benz S350 recalled over wiring issues

Mercedes-Benz has undertaken eight recalls of its vehicles in Australia in the past four months, now comes another one, this time it’s the flagship S-Class that is affected.

The recall affects only S350 versions of the Mercedes-Benz saloon and is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The ACCC advising that the clearance between the transmission/alternator wiring harness and the exhaust system may not be sufficient.

This may result in damage to the wiring harness. As a result, it may not be possible to select the transmission “park” position.

Additionally, the transmission may shift into “neutral” whilst driving and if the transmission fails it may result in a hazard to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

Letters will be sent to owners of affected Mercedes-Benz S-Class vehicles and further info is also available from Mercedes-Benz Australia on 03 9566 9266.
