Mercedes-Benz SUV range swells with new compact crossover.
Australia’s thirst for compact SUV’s continues unabated and almost every car manufacturer is racing to get in on the action.
Mercedes-Benz is the latest to launch a new crossover – called the GLA.
Two variants are available - GLA 200 CDI and GLA 250 4MATIC. The GLA 250 obviously features the Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
Under the bonnet, the turbo diesel GLA 200 develops 100kW and 300Nm, the turbo petrol in the GLA 250 delivers 155kW and 350Nm.
Despite having what Mercedes-Benz describes as a “muscular and imposing appearance” on the outside, they say the cabin brings levels of refinement in line with other Mercedes-Benz models.
Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design Daimler AG, says the new GLA creates a bridge between modernity and the avant-garde, between tradition and progression.
“With its striking features the GLA embodies our progressive thinking and enthrals with its off-road proportions,”
“The clearly defined surfaces convey power and serenity, and we have managed to combine as much emotional appeal as possible with as much purity as necessary.”
The new Mercedes-Benz GLA is appearing in Mercedes-Benz dealerships now, prices start at $47,900.
