There’s a new model set to bridge the gap between Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and SUVs with a new all-wheel drive version of the E-Class on the way.
Known as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain, the model will debut at the Paris Motor Show next week and gets its off-road ability from bigger tyres, an all-wheel drive powertrain and an air suspension system that lifts the body by an additional 20mm.
The E-Class All-Terrain will also come with beefed-up underbody and panel protection.
While just the one engine looks set to be offered – a 143kW/400Nm turbocharged four-cylinder that will be mated to a nine-speed auto transmission.
Arriving mid-2017 in European dealerships, at this stage there is no confirmation that the off-road version of the E-Class will be available in Australia, as always, we will keep you updated.
In announcing the new offering this morning, Sales and Marketing Chief at Mercedes-Benz, Ola Källenius, said no E-Class has ever been as versatile as the All-Terrain.
“The new model combines a striking look in SUV style with the intelligent space concept of the estate.
