Mercedes-Benz A-Class recall

Fault with dashboard frame in 2012 models could affect air-bag operation.

The ACCC says the dashboard may need to be replaced in affected models.

A recall has been announced for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

It’s been found the A-Class models, all sold in 2012, may have been fitted with an internal dashboard frame that wasn’t manufactured correctly.

In ordering the recall the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission reports the frame may restrict the deployment of the passenger airbag.

This could result, in the event of an incident, in the air bag possibly deploying abnormally and increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.

A letter will be sent to affected owners and the dashboard will be inspected and replaced if required.
