Mazda Australia excited by new CX-5 prospects

Mazda Australia say they have high hopes for new and improved CX-5...

Mazda Australia say they’re confident the Australian car buying public will respond positively to the all-new Mazda CX-5.

Australia’s best-selling mid-size SUV, the current edition Mazda CX-5 continues to win over buyers, despite the fact the model is at the end of its life-cycle.

The all-new model, recently unveiled and just entering production now, is said to be even better.

Landing in Australia early next year, we just attended a Mazda Australia end of year event in Melbourne, where Mazda Marketing Director Alastair Doak gave us a few more details on the new model.

He said we can look forward to driving a vehicle that is quieter, and has a more comfortable interior.

While we also now know that the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will feature an electric tailgate (on certain model grades) and rear air-conditioning vents.

While the new CX-5 will also be the first Mazda SUV model to feature the new ‘G-Vectoring’ safety assist system.

Alastair also revealed that a new model grade would be available - Touring. This new variant will sit between the Maxx Sport and GT grades.

“We feel that the new ‘Touring’ model grade will help fill the gap between the entry-level and higher-spec model and it could be very popular with returning Mazda CX-5 buyers.

“Overall we are very excited about the new CX-5’s prospects in Australia and think that it will be attractive to existing and new customers to the brand.”

We will bring you more Mazda CX-5 news as it comes to hand.

  1. Hi Joel, do you know if they will have the top end Akera model again? and also do you know which models will have the electric tailgate? I own the current CX5 2.2L Turbo Diesel Akera and I am glad to hear that the seats have been improved to be more comfortable as this is a big problem with my current CX5. I have taken it back half a dozen times to get Mazda to improve the seat and which Mazda could not do anything. i also love the idea of the electric tailgate. Just these two things will get me to go back.
