Maserati becomes first car maker to offer silk upholstery.
This is a first, Maserati buyers in Australia will soon have the option of ticking an options box for silk seat upholstery.
Costing between $11,000 and $22,000, the silk upholstery is being offered in the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte and Maserati tell us it combines the finest silk produced by Ermenegildo Zegna with supreme handcrafted leathers from Poltrona Frau.
Maserati Australia boss, Glen Sealey, says the end result is an interior that is unlike any other.
“Ermenegildo Zegna has taken silk, a natural material that is renowned for its soft and delicate nature, and developed it into a new form of silk that is suitable for car upholstery with its requirements for durability without losing any of silk’s intrinsic qualities.
“This is little short of remarkable a feat of fabric engineering and on a par with the mechanical and design engineering that has gone into the Ghibli and Quattroporte cars into which it is tailored.”
