Owners of the seven-seat Mahindra XUV500 SUV are being asked to return their vehicle to a dealership to have a software upgrade installed.
The recall affects Mahindra XUV500 vehicles sold in Australia between the 12th of June 2012 and the 30th of June 2014.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) says there’s a possibility of an intermittent fault code inhibiting deployment of the side curtain air-bag.
The ACCC warning that if the air-bag in the seven-seat SUV does not deploy correctly there is an increased risk of injury to the driver during a collision.
Mahindra Australia is writing directly to affected Mahindra XUV500 SUV owners who are being asked to contact their nearest Mahindra Dealer to have upgraded software installed.
That rectification process should take less than ten minutes.
