Land Rover enjoys bumper start to 2016

Land Rover is on track for a record sales year in 2016 with sales up by 16% across the first five months of the year.

The British SUV/4×4 brand has delivered 196,620 vehicles globally so far this year and enjoyed a 34,313 deliveries in May, a 6% increase on the same month last year.

One country where Land Rover is finding a significant number of new buyers is China were sales were up a huge 29% in the month.

The best-seller for the month was the Discovery Sport, retailing an impressive 10,075 vehicles.

As reported here, Land Rover sister company, Jaguar, also enjoyed booming fortunes in the month on the back of its new SUV offering, the F-PACE.

Collectively, Jaguar Land Rover sold 245,100 vehicles in the first five months of 2016, 23% up on the same period in the prior year.
