Kia maintains momentum ahead of Stinger arrival

The Kia Australia sales surge has continued in August with VFACTS data showing the South Korean brand lifted local sales 21.5% on August 2016.

Kia has enjoyed a charge up the sales charts in recent times, primarily on the back of outstanding Cerato, Sportage and Rio sales.

While the local operation is about to launch perhaps the most keenly-anticipated new car of 2017 – the Kia Stinger.

There will also be a new Kia compact SUV in the fray in coming months – the Stonic.

Across the first eight months of 2017 Kia sales are up 31.4% on the same period last year with 37,508 total customer handovers.

In the latest twist in the increase in the brand’s recent local popularity upswing, Kia zoomed past Japanese rivals Nissan (4,095) with 4,507 local deliveries in August.

Kia now sits in ninth position overall.

Subaru (4,579) and Volkswagen (4,730) both enjoyed increased sales in the month and were able to hold off the Kia challenge, for another month at least.
