Kia tops quality and reliability survey...again

2017 J.D. Power quality study published

There’s no doubt Kia is the big mover in the Australian car market and now those people who choose a Kia can rest assured they are most likely getting a quality vehicle.

Kia has just topped the annual J.D. Power’s 2017 Initial Quality Study (IQS) for the second straight year.

The study asks car buyers about the quality and reliability of their cars and it was Kia that had the fewest issues reported by owners.

Among the premium brands it was another South Korean entrant that came out on top – Genesis.

Kia owners reported 72 problems per 100 vehicles, ahead of Genesis with 77, Porsche (78), Ford and RAM (86) and BMW, Chevrolet and Hyundai (88).

The industry average was 97 problems per 100.

Jaguar and Fiat finished at the bottom of the survey with an average of 148 and 163 problems per 100 respectively.

Michael Sprague is the boss of Kia in North America, he says topping the quality study again is something for the brand to be proud of.

“This reconfirms Kia’s status as today’s world-class automaker and reflects the exacting standards and craftsmanship our team members instil into every car, crossover and SUV Kia builds.”
