Fastback GT will go on sale at the end of the year…
A specific date hasn’t been confirmed though production of the Korean maker’s highest performance production vehicle will commence in Q3 after stringent testing is carried out on the road and on the track.
So far, each prototype has been subjected to 10,000km of trials on the famous Nürburgring.
Special attention has been afforded to the aerodynamics and air flow, braking performance, as well as suspension and handling reflective of the Stinger’s gran turismo fastback design.
A selection of three engines will be on offer with a standard 2.0 litre turbo, a 2.2 litre turbo diesel and the powerhouse 3.3 litre twin turbo V6.
The 3.3L V6 is capable of 270km/h and 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds making it the fastest Kia ever.
These will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that is controlled by five different shift programs and is also available in RWD or AWD.
The Stinger will come equipped with Kia’s DRIVE WiSE system with all driver assist technologies including the new Driver Attention Alert for driver fatigue.
An HUD, wireless charging pad, heated steering wheel and seats, power tailgate and 15 speaker Harmon/Kardon sound system with 8” touchscreen are some of the other features, depending on model specification.
Kia Motors Europe’s Chief Designer, Gregory Guillaume says, the Stinger is a sporty vehicle but is more importantly about the journey rather than the destination.
“It’s not just about outright power, dynamics and styling, the new Kia Stinger is a true gran turismo - a car for spirited long distance driving.
